"Why Teach?"

I've had a few teachers that have given me patience, effort, and encouragement to continue learning, the reason I actually went into the interdisciplinary studies major at Texas State, was because of those who did not believe in me or give me any encouragement when it came to transitioning from my native Spanish vocabulary to English. When I came to the United States I had a really hard time adapting to the changes in my every day routine but most importantly, I had a rough time learning English. Since the foundation of a successful academic career relies on knowing and fully understanding the standard English language, I always wished that all teachers I came across understood my hardships when it came to wanting to learn but having zero understanding of a language I've never been surrounded by. When I was suddenly thrown into full speaking English classes I nearly failed all the materials in the 3rd grade and when I look back at that experience it motivates me to become that Teacher I desperately needed during those hard times. Children want to learn and as future instructors we have to understand that not every single child has grown or lived in identical settings, as instructors we must provide equal opportunities so that everyone can achieve greatness.

I would like to focus my teaching in a Pre-K to 1st grade setting, this setting is where children usually start understanding basic English and I would like to provide a stronger understanding of basic English in order to keep them on the track of success and minimize any confusion between their Native language and English as well. Obviously I would love to teach ELA or maybe even science, I'm passionate about both, being really heavy into reading literature or even talking about the solar system and the importance it has on humanity. I adore being around children and have always versioned teaching them regardless of the subject, I just want to be someone they trust and have no doubts when it comes to talking to me and how I can better enhance their education experience.
